Intelligence Management

Overview

Intelligence management is essential in order to identify key threats and problems and put in place effective strategies in terms of prevention intelligence and enforcement plans.

By adopting an intelligence led approach law enforcement can effectively manage the key threats and risks that are emerging. The National Intelligence Model and the Intelligence Operating Model provides a framework to identify and understand what local, regional and national problems are and to understand how to deal with these problems effectively.

It provides provide clear and consistent tasking arrangements, delivers informed decision making and adopts a problem solving approach.

Objectives

At the end of the module participants will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of the National Intelligence Model / Intelligence Operating
    Model
  • Identify the difference between intelligence and evidence
  • Describe the process of recording intelligence
  • State how intelligence is handled
  • Outline how intelligence is disseminated
  • Understand the matrix codes for intelligence management
  • Describe what a CHIS is and the rules covering conduct and use
  • Describe the importance of compliance with HRA and GDPR
  • Sanitise intelligence documents
  • Identify and outline the risk assessment process regarding intelligence management and dissemination

Key Learning

Delegates will gain a better understanding of how intelligence is recorded, managed and disseminated using the National Intelligence form and the requirements of Source, Information and Handling codes.

Delegates will gain an understanding of how to analyse information and intelligence and identify how to use intelligence in investigations.

The correct use of sanitisation is key to protecting the sources of intelligence and delegates will develop practical skills which will assist them in this area and also in the area of disclosure and how this is managed in relation to intelligence material.

This course is aimed at those conducting investigations whether for a public body, a private corporation or as a sole investigator. It is essential for all those involved in investigation to understand how intelligence is recorded and managed and how it is used in investigations. It will also benefit those who have responsibility for the identification of threats and risks and the design and implementation of Prevention, Intelligence and Enforcement plans.

Who are we?

WRI are an established company who specialise in Brand Protection, Investigation and Training and we have worked with the Police, Trading Standards and a number of well known brands to both protect the rights of the Intellectual Property Owner and to bring to justice those who break the law.

Our trainers are very experienced Retired Police Officers and Trading Standards Officers who have been trained to a senior level within their respective roles.
