Established in April 2011, WRi has built up a reputation as a company that delivers results using a range of services aimed at reducing the threat to businesses from Intellectual Property (IP) crime and other illegal activities.
WRi has a diverse workforce comprising of former police officers, trading standards officers and brand protection professionals who work with key public sector partners.
Some of our greatest work to date has been in partnership with Trading Standards, Police, Border Force, IPO, industry and other relevant agencies specialising in Intellectual Property crime.
Graham, a Master’s graduate in IP Law, is a retired Police Officer with over 30 year’s police experience in specialist local, regional and national enforcement agencies. Widely acknowledged as a conscientious and highly committed individual he has been at the forefront of IP crime enforcement in the UK since 2005.
He was instrumental in creating and leading the Intellectual Property Office and National Trading Standards e-Crime Intelligence hubs with responsibility for coordinating intelligence sharing between industry, enforcement and government and held a pivotal role in the development of the National Trading Standards response to illicit trade via Fulfilment Houses.
Graham has received several awards and plaudits from senior industry, enforcement and government agencies for individual excellence in anti-counterfeiting and intelligence management.
Gareth has been with WRi for over 8 years with experience at both operational and management level. He manages the day to day operation of our core services, including conducting and organising test purchase, market sweeps, site visits, allocation of actions, overseeing and conducting investigations, liaison with partner agencies (public and private sector). Gareth has attained a number qualifications to assist him within his role at WRi, some of these include, INTACT Open-Source research and investigation course, IQ Level 3 award for Professional Investigators and has also completed the DCATS module in IP investigations.
Jordan has been with WRi for just over a year. After gaining his Law degree, Jordan began a career at Trading Standards. During this time, he developed an affinity for investigating Intellectual Property Crime resulting in successful seizures and convictions of offenders. For the past 6 years Jordan has conducted Intellectual Property investigations in the private sector on behalf of global brands in the fashion, cosmetics, technology, and sport industries. Jordan is WRi’s Business Development Manager, leading on development opportunities, marketing, and our successful Civil Recovery Programme.
Briony has worked at WRi for just over 7 years. Briony joined as a Brand Protection officer and has worked her way up to Brand Protection Manger leading a small, but dedicated team of brand specialists. Briony liaises with Trading Standards and Border Force daily in relation to product identification and evidential statements. She holds a key role within WRi liaising with some of our largest clients, ensuring that their expectations are met and services are delivered to the highest standard.
This team completes the intelligence collection, analysis and management in order to guide development of investigations by using some of the most advanced analytical software within the industry.
Leading on from the intelligence collection this team start the process of developing a full investigation.
They also provide the brand protection services which includes liaising with Trading Standards, Customs and Border Force.
This team then carries out all the physical activity including test purchase and site visits along with supporting police and trading standards with enforcement actions. This team also develop the private criminal prosecution (PCP) service.
